About the job

Location: New York, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.  Join EY and help to build a better working world.

EY is a global leader in serving the financial services marketplace and the only professional services firm with a separate business unit dedicated to the financial services industry—the Financial Services Organization (FSO). Our integrated model and bold ambition allow us to stay at the center of industry transformation, working with clients across Banking and Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management and Insurance to address strategic, operational and technology-driven change.

Within EY Technology Consulting, we help asset and wealth management firms design, modernize and scale their digital and data ecosystems, spanning the entire investment value chain. If you are passionate about translating business needs into product capabilities and technology solutions, and driving innovation across traditional and alternative investments, this role provides an opportunity to help define the future of financial services platforms.

The opportunity

As part of EY's Wealth and Asset Management Technology practice, you'll lead product and business analysis workstreams for private equity and alternative investment clients modernizing their operating models, data and technology platforms. You will partner with senior client stakeholders, product leaders, investment and operations teams, architects and engineers to shape product vision, define target capabilities and drive delivery.

Your work will span product strategy, business architecture, requirements leadership, data and process design, agile delivery and implementation. You will be accountable for workstream outcomes, team quality and stakeholder alignment while coaching Senior Consultants and Consultants and supporting broader program leadership.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead product analysis and business analysis workstreams from discovery through implementation, managing scope, deliverables, risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.

  • Partner with senior client stakeholders to define business outcomes, product vision, target capabilities, roadmap priorities and measurable success criteria.

  • Plan and lead executive interviews, design workshops and decision-making sessions across investment, operations, finance, investor relations, data and technology functions.

  • Oversee current-state assessments and target-state design across fundraising, deal execution, portfolio monitoring, fund accounting, capital activity, valuations, investor servicing and reporting.

  • Translate strategic and operational needs into product roadmaps, epics, features, business capabilities, functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Own backlog quality and prioritization in partnership with product owners, balancing business value, user needs, risk, technical dependencies and delivery capacity.

  • Lead business process design across current-state assessment, process decomposition, future-state workflows, operating controls, roles and handoffs.

  • Lead conceptual and logical data modeling activities, defining core entities, relationships, reference data, business definitions and model requirements across private markets domains.

  • Oversee source-to-target mapping specifications, including field-level mappings, transformation rules, derivations, validation logic, reconciliations and data quality controls.

  • Collaborate with architecture, design, engineering and data leads to evaluate solution options and ensure alignment among business requirements, user experience, data and technology design.

  • Lead testing strategy, user acceptance testing, defect triage, readiness planning and stakeholder sign-off for assigned workstreams.

  • Direct and review the work of Senior Consultants and Consultants, providing coaching, quality assurance and clear delegation.

  • Communicate workstream progress, risks, decisions and recommendations to client executives and EY program leadership.

  • Support business development, proposals, estimates, client presentations and the development of reusable EY assets and market perspectives.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong knowledge of private markets (private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure) and alternative investment products, operating models, processes, platforms, data and reporting requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead business analysis or product analysis workstreams and convert complex business needs into executable product and technology plans.

  • Strong product management skills, including product vision, capability definition, roadmap development, prioritization, backlog management and value measurement.

  • Experience managing cross-functional delivery across business, product, design, architecture, data and engineering teams.

  • Ability to identify and resolve scope, process, data and technology issues while maintaining alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Strong understanding of agile delivery methods and the ability to adapt product and analysis practices to the client's delivery model.

  • Strong data analysis capabilities, including the ability to direct data profiling, reconciliation, root-cause analysis and validation using SQL, Excel or analytics tools.

  • Proven ability to lead data modeling and source-to-target mapping activities and review detailed data deliverables for completeness and accuracy.

  • Advanced business process design skills, including target operating model alignment, workflow optimization, control design and implementation planning.

  • Strong leadership, facilitation, executive communication, negotiation and client relationship skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coach team members and maintain quality in a fast-paced consulting environment.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, information systems, computer science, engineering or a related field and approximately 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in product management, product analysis, business analysis, business systems analysis or technology consulting within financial services, asset management or alternative investments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams or workstreams through multiple phases of the product and technology delivery life cycle, including discovery, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation and adoption.

  • Experience managing client stakeholders, facilitating senior-level decisions and presenting clear recommendations.

  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel based on client needs, and to hold a valid driver's license and passport.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience with private equity, private credit, real estate or infrastructure investment operations and products.

  • Experience with platforms such as Investran, eFront, Allvue, Geneva, DealCloud, LemonEdge, Dynamo, iLEVEL, 73 Strings, Yardi, Salesforce, Snowflake or Databricks.

  • Experience leading fund administration oversight, portfolio monitoring, investor reporting, data platform or operating model transformation initiatives.

  • Experience with data and API integration among fund accounting, investor servicing, CRM, portfolio monitoring and reporting platforms.

  • Prior consulting experience and demonstrated contributions to proposals, practice development, thought leadership or team development.

  • Certifications in product ownership, business analysis, agile delivery, cloud or data analytics.
