The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is a department within Student Success that consists of a team of practitioners who strive to develop interculturally mature global citizens. The work of the office contributes to the commitment of student success, inclusive excellence, and career readiness by appreciative advising and working with student leaders in crafting belonging-based events on campus.

This position is responsible for advising a programming board, a group of undergraduate and graduate student leaders, in the development, organization, delivery, and assessment of programs designed to enhance and support student life and the university experience. The Coordinator also supports and models the vision and goals of the office including developing programming board leaders, signature events, increasing involvement and engagement on and off campus, collaborating with other campus departments, and providing inclusive programming which meets the vast needs of the USF campus community leading to student academic and personal success. The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director.

Responsibilities

  • Directly advise members of the programming board and plan and implement transformative signatures events and heritage programming that celebrates cultures, traditions, histories, and shared experiences of the university community. Oversee the request and spending of members, in consultation with the Assistant Director.

  • Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, alumni, and community partners to create engaging interactive and shared experiences.

  • Support, attend, and participate in campus initiatives, meetings and programs, and serve on various committees. Participate in evening and weekend activities. Manage platforms such as departmental website pages and social media sites.

  • Coordinate speakers, performances, community celebrations, and campus-wide programs that foster appreciation and belonging.

  • Assess student growth opportunities and participation to strengthen program and community engagement.

  • Assist with the annual undergraduate and graduate student hiring processes in consultation with the Assistant Director.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of related experience

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree. • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree; • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree; • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or Social Work. 1-3 years experience working in the field of multicultural affairs. Knowledge of underrepresented student concerns in higher education. A practitioner with strong organization skills, programming and time management, and a demonstrated ability to build relationships across cultures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Previous experience working in a college or university setting with undergraduate and graduate students is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of student and leadership development, student engagement, and student success theories and practices. This person will also have excellent customer service skills, particularly with students and vendors, and experience with purchasing and managing budgets.
